Playgroup Lowdown

A friendly Thursday morning stay and play in Thaxted for newborns through to preschoolers, with different play areas, snacks, stories and nursery rhymes.

What it’s like

Little Ladybirds is a relaxed Thursday stay and play for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. I haven’t been along myself yet, but it has been recommended by several local mums I’ve spoken to recently, so it is firmly on my list to visit properly.

Recent group information describes different areas for different ages, including baby sensory and sensory lights for tiny babies, role play, cars, dinosaurs, drawing, ride on toys and other activities for older little ones.

It sounds like a very easy going morning: children can move between toys and activities while parents and carers have a tea or coffee and a chat.

Session flow

The session starts with free play, with toys and activities set out for different ages.

Things are usually packed away at around 10:30am, followed by snack time and then a story or nursery rhymes before the session finishes at 11am.

Walden Weekly tip

This looks like a particularly easy one to try if you are nervous about turning up somewhere new: it is drop in, low cost and has something for babies as well as more mobile toddlers.
