What It’s Like

Little Berries is one of those groups that just feels like a safe bet — it’s consistent, friendly, and brilliantly set up for under 5s.

It’s run by Rachel, who is so kind and hands-on. She’s one of those people who somehow manages to be genuinely loving with the kids (yes, even when they’re feral) while all of us are trying to juggle our own little ones. The whole vibe is supportive and relaxed — perfect if you’re a new mum coming mostly for a chat and a bit of company, but also great if your toddler needs to burn energy and play properly.

The hall itself is a big open space packed with loads of donated toys — train sets, little kitchens, a play house set-up, ride-on cars, things to scoot around on… basically the kind of toy variety that keeps toddlers busy for ages.

Halfway through the session there’s a really lovely snack time, where the kids sit down on their little chairs with tiny plates (it’s adorable) and there’s usually a mix of breadsticks and fruit. They all love the routine of it.

And for the grown-ups: there’s tea/coffee and biscuits, which honestly makes such a difference.

In the summer, they also open up the back so the kids can spill out into a sweet little garden area with grass — it turns it into a proper mini outing.

Parking + Practical Bits

Parking right outside the hall is limited — there are only a few spaces and they’re a bit awkward (reverse in / reverse out). They tend to get taken quickly, and it’s often best to leave them for parents who really need them (twins, multiple small children, etc.).

The good news is the village is quiet and street parking is easy. You can usually park along the road nearby (including up the main road) and you’re only about a minute’s walk away. The only time it’s mildly annoying is if it’s absolutely tipping it down — but even then it’s not a long walk.

Inside, there’s a small foyer area that’s handy for coats and bags, and there are comfortable changing facilities for nappies.

One tiny thing to be mindful of: on wet/mucky days, the entrance area can get a bit messy — most people just leave prams in the car and walk in because it’s so close, which keeps life simpler.

Walden Weekly Tip

If you’re new, try arriving 5–10 minutes early. Not because it’s strict — just because parking is easier, you can get settled, and you’ll feel instantly more relaxed walking into a calm-ish room rather than peak chaos.

How to Contact

There’s a WhatsApp group that locals use, but it’s best shared with permission — so for now, the easiest route is: turn up on Thursday and ask Rachel (or any of the regulars) to add you, or check their Facebook page for the most up-to-date info.
